Did you know that • Christmas
Christmas is one of the festivities that we look forward to the most throughout the year. But did you know why at Christmas we use an Easter tree as the main symbol?
Its history dates back to the arrival of the first Christians in northern Europe. There, the inhabitants of the area celebrated the birth of the sun god -Frey- by decorating a non-perennial tree, very similar to the current Christmas tree.
Over time, this idea was taken up by Catholics to celebrate the birth of Christ, although it was Saint Boniface -a German bishop- who installed the idea of the pine, a perennial tree that symbolized the love of God , decorating it with apples and candles and, at the top of the tree, including a star that symbolizes that of Bethlehem.
How are you going to celebrate Christmas?
